  • Entry :Applications should be made through the School Registrar who will arrange appointments with the Headmaster. Previous school records should be presented at the time of the interview. Secondary school pupils are required (at the beginning of the academic year) to sit entrance tests in English and Mathematics.
  • Pastoral Care :The school is very proud when it considers what it does in the realm of pastoral care. The care, attention and guidance that is provided to each child and its welfare, in and out of class, is all important. The tone of a class, its behaviour, discipline and general attitude is greatly influenced by the person acting as form teacher. Morning assembly, a respected prefectorial system and Games Houses add spice to the pastoral pudding.
  • Ethos :The alpha and omega of a good school is its ethos. While bricks and cement, equipment and facilities are important, the lifeblood of a school comes from the quality of its teachers and pupils who together create an ethos and school culture. You cannot measure ethos – the parameters that create an ethos are difficult to quantify. One cannot measure discipline or commitment, or pastoral care, or good manners, or academic rigour, or dedication, or lunch time help, or loyalty, or prefectorial responsibility, or respect. Ethos is intangible; it cannot be seen or packaged or photographed. But it is there at St. Lawrence and it abounds and it is a buoyant and wholesome community ethos.
